Welcome SPRING!!! (and a printable FREEBIE!)

I don’t know about how winter is where you live, but here in UT – it was and has been a LONG winter here!  It seemed like the pipe freezing, below zero, weather in January would NEVER end… But it’s so good to have days where the sun shines and there are hints of green popping up here and there.  I really wish I had planted some bulbs last fall, but maybe this year! I miss the daffodils we had at our last house.  *We moved into our “new” house last summer.  I can’t believe we’ve almost been here a year already…. plus all the projects that I want to do that haven’t begun yet… LOL

One of the things I love about the new house is that I’ve decorated the living room in all browns, with the plan of adding pops of color for each season.  I strung cute little construction paper hearts on baker’s twine for Valentine’s day, a couple of vases of red silk roses, and a few other holiday shelf sitters.  For Easter and Spring, I wanted to make another banner/swag thing to go on my window.  I had seen this adorable one on pinterest from  So I bought my supplies and got all ready to make it.  I sat down and cut out a half a million bunnies.  OK, that’s a little bit of an exaggeration, but not much!  Then it occurred to me that I never really thought about how long it would take to sew ALL those bunnies together! There was NO way I was actually going to do that, so I had to think of another idea.  First I thought I’d just sew a running stitch through the bunnies (1 ply instead of 2) and hang them that way.  But it would take even more bunnies than I had already cut out!  So back to the drawing board I went… Then inspiration struck when I thought about the Valentine one I had actually wanted to make (burlap with stamped or felt red hearts).  So I bought some burlap, cut it into squares, and got out my hot glue gun.  I just added a few dots of glue to each bunny to attach it to the squares and then a bit more on the top and folded it over the baker’s twine.  I so LOVE how it turned out!  IMG_3606

More St. Patrick’s fun (and a freebie!)

Need a last minute idea to do something little and fun for your kids, friends, or family?   This is the perfect quick project for you! I first saw this idea on They used kisses and m&ms for theirs and were cute too!

Here’s what you need:

Pretzels (regular twisted ones and stick pretzels), green chocolate melts, and green m&ms or other green candies.

1.Lay the pretzels out in a clover shape and top with one or two melts. I used some Wilton candy melts that I had in a light green. It would have been a lot cuter in a darker green, but I just made do with what I had on hand.

2. Put in the oven at 200 degrees for about 4 minutes. Pull them out and check them. They often look like they’re not melted, but they are.  Mine weren’t quite soft enough, so I put them back in for 2 minutes.  Then took a toothpick and smoothed them around a bit to make sure they were all the way attached to all the pretzels.

3. Then add whatever candy you have to the center.  Totally not necessary, but a nice extra pop of color.  The ones I used, again, were just what I had on hand already.  Then I didn’t think it was GREEN enough, so I tried coloring some sugar and sprinkling that on… Yeah… don’t do that… made it look a bit dorky.  But oh well!!!! Still looks cute!

5. You can just let them harden on your counter, or stick them in the fridge/freezer for a few minutes.

6. Now you can package them! I made these adorable little tags for you too! You can use them as a tag, cupcake topper, or even a sticker.  For the bag, again, I used what I had on hand and just cut off the top of a ziplock bag, tied with bakers twine and attached the cute little tag.  I like to punch them out with my little scalloped circle punch, and my new bracket shaped one too!  Do you love them as much as I do???

I made my first sale!!!

So I opened my etsy shop last week and just put my adorable Easter Party printable set in it.  I was working on some more projects today and getting things listed and just noticed that I had a message.  I made a sale… 4 days ago! LOL  I felt bad that I didn’t get right back to the customer, but I told her that I’d customize her invitation for free, if she was interested.  She’d already sent out invites, but thanked me for the offer.  Glad she’s happy anyway.  Oh, and she’s in Australia! I always think it’s extra cool when something I make/design goes halfway around the world.

Part of my push to get my etsy shop open is that I wanted to do some St. Patty’s & Easter giveaways before it was already past…..  So here’s the first one:

Just click here or the preview to go to my dropbox to download. It’s designed to print as a 5×7 print.

Keep checking back – more freebies coming!!!!

Also, go check out my etsy shop  and keep checking in, as I’m adding more each day!
